We imagine midlife one way, and life surprises us.

Hi, I’m Paula.
This season looks different than we had planned

Caring for aging parents, navigating relationships with adult children, and an emptying nest. Friendships shift, and life doesn’t always look the way we expected in midlife.
There is loss here, sometimes through death, sometimes through distance, and often through grief that doesn’t always get named.
Midlife has a way of bringing everything into view at once. Responsibilities shift. Relationships change. Roles you once knew well don’t always fit the same way anymore. There can be moments of loss, uncertainty, and quiet questions about purpose, direction, and what still matters.
You may find yourself carrying more than you expected — emotionally, relationally, mentally — while trying to show up well for others. Life may look fine on the outside, yet feel unsettled on the inside. What once felt clear can begin to feel blurry, and the path forward may not feel as obvious as it once did.
In the middle of all of this, it’s easy to start questioning yourself. You might wonder if you’re doing something wrong, if you should have this figured out by now, or why this season feels so much heavier than you anticipated. Sometimes the quiet question underneath it all isn’t really about answers or direction at all. It’s simply this: am I failing somehow, or do I just need a break?
If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone.

I offer one-on-one conversations for people in midlife who want space to be heard and make sense of what this season is bringing.
